Yael Ziv

DPhil in Statistics student

About Me

Hello! I'm Yael, a DPhil student at the Oxford Protein Informatics Group (OPIG). I'm currently researching structure-based drug design, with a focus on deep-learning generative models. I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Ben-Gurion University in Israel. Outside of academia, I enjoy hiking and exploring the UK with my husband, Gal, and our one-year-old daughter, Abigail.

Research Interests

Deep learning for drug design, graph neural network, generative models

Leo Zhang

StatML CDT student

About Me

I am a second-year DPhil student on the StatML CDT. Previously, I obtained my BSc in Mathematics at Imperial College London and my MSc in Statistical Science at the University of Oxford.

Research Interests

My current research interests include developing meta-learning methods for efficiently adapting LLMs and applications of geometry within machine learning (e.g. deep generative models for manifold-valued data and geometric deep learning). I am also increasingly interested in the intersection of cognitive science and neuroscience with machine learning, for inspiring more effective and efficient learning algorithms.

About Me

I am a second-year DPhil student at Oxford and part of the StatML CDT. Previously, I completed a BSc in Computer Science and Statistics at the University of Toronto.

Research Interests

My research centers on generative modelling and sampling, with a focus on bridging various fields. I’m particularly interested in using techniques from differential geometry, optimal transport, probability, and statistical learning theory to deepen our understanding of the strengths and limitations of algorithms in these areas. I also have a broader interest in machine learning theory.

About Me

I am a first-year Dphil student in Statistics supervised by Prof. Geoff Nicholls and Dr. Chieh-Hsi Wu (from University of Southampton). Before joining Oxford, I obtained my bachelor's degree in Statistical Science at the University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen , and during my third year of undergraduate study, I spent a wonderful time at Oxford as a visiting student. Nice to be back!

My current research interest focuses on Bayesian statistics, especially Bayesian model misspecification. On my way to explore new knowledge and extend my interest!

Research Interests

Bayesian statistics
