Finance Roadshow

All staff and students across the Department are invited to join Jim Naismith, Head of MPLS, for an overview of the MPLS Division’s financial plans at one of a series of roadshow events being hosted in individual departments in June. As we head to the end of both the 2025/26 academic year and in the run up to the annual refresh of the 5-Year Financial Plans, MPLS is looking to agree our collective next steps towards maintaining a financially sustainable position across the Division.

Jim will provide a short presentation on where we are and next steps, with Frank Windmeijer then sharing local departmental context. This will be followed by opportunities for questions and comments.

Nominations are now open for a number of new Awards to sit alongside existing Impact, Teaching, EDI and Research Supervision Awards. These new awards recognise the contributions and commitment of MPLS staff across four key areas: Technical and Workshop Support; Estates, Facilities, and Safety Support; IT; and Professional Services Excellence.

AI Exploration Week at Oxford

The AI Competency Centre is running a free, week-long programme for University staff to build confidence and practical skills in using AI well at Oxford. Sessions will cover topics including AI foundations, writing, education, app development and agentic workflows.

Diagnostics for Low and Middle-Income Countries Conference

This year's Dx4LMICs explores diagnostics for a changing world; topics include: climate and infectious disease, antimicrobial resistance, and diagnostic equity. Attendees will enjoy two days of expert presentations, lightning talks, networking, and interactive discussion.

QRT Travel Grant to ICML 2026

Application deadline: Friday 5 June 2026
Qube Research & Technologies (QRT) is offering travel grants to support Master’s students, PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers attending the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML 2026), taking place in Seoul, South Korea, from 6–11 July 2026. 

Successful applicants will receive support covering travel, accommodation, a daily stipend, and full conference access. Preference will be given to applicants presenting a paper or poster at the conference.
