Isobel Howard
Health Data Science CDT student
About Me
I am a DPhil student in Prof Robert Davies' lab, co-supervised by Simon Myers at the Statistics department in Oxford. My research focuses on polygenic risk scores for neurological outcomes: how best they can be built; if and how they can be decomposed to elucidate different genetic disease pathways and phenotypes; and their interactions with other genetic and environmental factors. Before beginning my DPhil, I completed a bachelor's degree in Human Sciences at Oxford followed by an MSc in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I joined the CDT in Health Data Science based at the Big Data Institute in Oxford in September 2021.
Research Interests
- Polygenic risk scores for complex traits and diseases.
- Sub-typing genetic risk for neurological traits based on disease phenotype.
- Inferring how an individual may respond to different treatments dependent on their genetic risk profile.
