Dr Tom Rainforth has been awarded a major European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant. His work centres on foundational and methodological problems in machine learning, with a particular focus on data-efficient approaches and intelligent data acquisition.

Alison Etheridge has been awarded the 2023 IMA–LMS David Crighton Medal for services to mathematics and the mathematical community.

The paper "From Denoising Diffusions to Denoising Markov Models" authored by Joe Benton, Yuyang Shi, Valentin De Bortoli, George Deligiannidis and Arnaud Doucet has been accepted for publication in the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B as a prestigious read paper.
