Applications are now open for the Department of Statistics Summer Research Internships Programme 2023. The programme is designed to introduce undergraduate students to graduate-level study and will provide participants with tangible benefits in terms of confidence, skills and experience to enhance both their CVs and any future applications for postgraduate study. Applications are welcomed from students in at least their second year of study for an undergraduate or integrated master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or any closely related subject.

The internships are fully funded and last for 8 weeks from 3 July. The Department is particularly keen to receive applications from women as they are underrepresented in this field. We aim to offer at least half the available places to female candidates.

I really enjoyed being able to study a topic of interest to research level. I find the fact that some of my work could be genuinely useful to the real world really rewarding.

[I enjoyed] the project and learning much more about using my statistical skills with real world data and learning new techniques in R.
