Oxford joins Schmidt Futures’ $148 million global initiative to accelerate use of artificial intelligence in scientific research

The University of Oxford is one of nine leading research universities around the world selected to deliver a new global postdoctoral fellowship programme to drive the innovative use of AI across science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) research.

The Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship, a programme of Schmidt Futures, aims to accelerate the next scientific revolution by supporting talented postdoctoral researchers to apply AI techniques across the natural sciences, engineering and mathematical sciences.

Oxford Protein Informatics Group DPhil Student, Martin Buttenschoen, Professor Charlotte Deane and Professor Garrett M. Morris recently examined how well deep learning-based methods can dock a ligand into a protein pocket.
