Abstract: This talk marks the 110th anniversary of Alan Turing’s birth. Only a very few people alive today can remember him, but the questions raised by his life and work are as lively as ever. I will range over a variety of topics, centred on questions about computability and artificial intelligence, but also reflecting the very wide range of Turing’s contributions to science and history.
