Abstract: Silvia will speak about her journey as a researcher and her current work for DeepMind.

Bio: Silvia is Senior Staff Research Scientist at DeepMind, where she is currently working on causality and ML fairness. She received a Diploma di Laurea in Mathematics from University of Bologna and a PhD in Machine Learning from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (IDIAP Research Institute). Before joining DeepMind, Silvia was a post-doctoral researcher in the Empirical Inference Department at the Max-Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems and in the Machine Intelligence and Perception Group at Microsoft Research Cambridge, and a Marie-Curie fellow in the Statistical Laboratory at the University of Cambridge. Silvia was Program Co-chair of AISTATS 2020 and has organized several international events, including the Cognitive Science and Machine Learning Summer School and the Workshop on Inference and Estimation in Probabilistic Time-Series Models at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences.
