Professor of Bioinformatics (in association with University College)
Permanent, full-time Professorship within the Department of Statistics, held in association with a Fellowship at University College. The successful candidate will lead a world-class research programme in bioinformatics, strengthening Oxford's research in areas including statistical genomics, computational biology, machine learning for biological data, systems biology, engineering biology, and biomedical data science. The role includes academic leadership, research supervision, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations.
Applicants should have an international reputation in bioinformatics or a closely related field, with an outstanding record of research, success in securing research funding, and experience of academic leadership.

Postdoctoral Research Assistant
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Department of Statistics for three years, working on the development of the Genetic Inheritance Graph (GIG), a new computational framework for understanding genetic history and structural variation. You will work closely with Professor Anastasia Ignatieva, Professor Gil McVean and Dr Yan Wong, with opportunities to collaborate with researchers at the University of Bath and international experts across human, bacterial and agricultural genetics.
The role would suit someone with, or close to completing, a PhD/DPhil in statistics, mathematics, computer science, statistical or population genetics, or a related subject, with strong coding and software development skills. You don't need to have worked in genetics before, but you should be keen to apply your skills to problems in this area.
