My core research interest since the 1970s has been in computational statistics, the understanding of new statistical methods made possible and necessary by constant increases in computational power.

In addition, my work has ranged widely across theoretical and practical aspects of statistics, with collaborators in many areas of science, medicine, engineering, and social science.

One of my main current research interests is in human trafficking and modern slavery.
