number of occasions and always starts again. At present I am drinking between 1&2 bottles of 12% wine per night. I usually don't have my first drink until 7 pm and my last around 9 pm and I never drink during the day. I have read a lot about this subject.During the day I suffer from shaking hands, sweats, anxiety and it comes in decreasing waves and is usually gone by about 6pm.I never have hallucinations, DT's or seizures. At 6pm I have the mental compulsion to start drinking again as I have convinced myself that if I don't something bad will happen. Have I not already got over the worst of the withdrawal during the day.   , / Delete 2 From my experience, certainly not!! I also was only a evening drinker, half a litre of vodka every evening between 6 pm and 11 pm. I too during the day would suffer from withdrawals and at the end of last year attempted to cut down on my drinking at night. In turn, I experienced more withdrawals over a longer period of time, not only during the day but at night also. I'm not sure when was your last alcohol free day, and when you have stopped before for how long?I underwent a home detox 23 days ago and I'm not confident in saying that I couldn't have just stopped without the support of medication. My body is currently attempting to repair itself, but it's not easy and you do need willpower and good supports around you.   / Delete 3 I stopped drinking last year. I had to work away and because of this couldn't drink. I stopped the day before I went and didn't suffer from any significant symptoms. I think I'm going to try and taper at 50% for 2 or 3 nights and then try cold turkey but keep a bottle in just in case. Thanks for the reply by the way. / Delete 4 Hi John, seems to me that if you're getting through 1-2 bottles of wine in two hours you are drinking very quickly. With the withdrawls you are getting I would suggest getting a medical opinion. / Delete 5 Will do. Thanks for the reply / Delete 6 No / Delete 7 Hi JohnI have just started with an ARC and I am not an expert, but from what I've heard and read, it sounds as though the physical effects you have during the day are because your body is physically dependent. I have also routinely drank the same as you but not in such a quick time scale and I don't have any physical effects like you. I am mentally dependent though but this has just meant that I was advised to reduce to 1 bottle for a week then half a bottle for another week and then abstinence. I have 1 more day of alcohol and then that's it for me! Am feeling positive about it all though and definitely feel I am in the right mind set to do this now. I will control it....it will not control me!! I strongly recommend you seek some support because of how your body reacts physically through the day, it's not worth taking the risk! Good luck and all the best! 😊 / Delete 8 Hi Rachel, I'm really interested in what you say about being mentally dependent, cos I think that's a bit like me. And how you've found reducing so rapidly, and how you feel about your impending abstinence - does this mean never ever having alcohol again?I often drink, not because I physically need a drink but because I think a drink would be nice - and I think that too often! / Delete 9 Hi h1954,Yes, I am aiming for abstinence as I don't think I can learn to manage my drink responsibly. It used to frighten me when I thought about never drinking again but when I have had nights with minimum / no alcohol, I feel amazing the next day...my mind has more clarity, less fog! I mentioned to my keyworker at ARC that I am approaching this in the same way as when I gave up smoking. It is all linked to habit and emotions....I'm happy..I'll have a fag/drink - I'm p*ssed off..I'll have a fag/drink. It takes a lot of mental effort but i know a craving doesn't last long so it's about how I manage that feeling and then move on. My keyworker said that I was very self aware and that my thought process on it is exactly how they would advise so I guess I must be doing something right! She said that because I have no physical withdrawal effects that it was ok for me to reduce over a 2 week period. Hope this helps some! Good luck / Delete 10 So this has been on my breast for a couple of days. It is bumpy but I have not felt any lumps in my breast. Do you think it could be cancer or something else? Has anyone had anything similar to it? It does not feel warmer than any other part of my skin. Moderator comment:I have deleted the links to the images as they went to a site unsuitable for inclusion in the forums. The moderator may have deleted a link to a site, but usually do not delete pictures of an individual's skin lesions. The moderators do not want anything promoting a product or with bias. You may want to describe the lesion.Red, itchy, circle, patch, bumps, blisters, vesicle-blisters, pustules, linear, scaley and size in inches or mm. Regards,Merry Juliana / Delete 14 HiI am recovering from BC   My advice to you is see your GP for immediate advice/referral for tests. No one, not even a BC Consultant can diagnose anyone without mammogram/scan/biopsy.  The sooner you seek advice the sooner you will get peace of mind.  If it is cancer the sooner it is treated the better your survival   Good luck and see your GP as soon as possible  / Delete 15 Hi! I am 30, 5 foot 4 and 122 lbs. I have had high BP since I can remember and currently on labetasol (spelling).  I have a cardiologist now and he couldn’t find a pulse in my foot for a long time and thinks I have CoA...the echo came back normal. My resting bp is usually 157/103 which is insane...can other tests show this? Or do I not have it? Right now I’m feeling short of breath but no other real symptoms except my leg hurts sometimes...I just feel like my bp has been minimized and now I need answers! Thanks! , / Delete 16 I had a smear test that came back as high grade abnormal cells, i had a colospy and the doctor was going to do lazer treatment but couldnt reach my cervix, so i was ment to have it done under G.A. and also took a biopsy, the results from the biopsy have came back that i have no abnormal cells of the cervix. They are going to have a meeting and let me know what they are going to do. Has anyone else had this? Im really confused!! , / Delete 17 Sorry, just to be clear I am reading this correctly: You were meant to have it done under G.A. or you actually had it done under G.A? There arer several questions raised by the way this was all addressed.Firstly, It is not all that unusual to get false positive results during smear. Some doctors repeat smear to confirm, but most go ahead for colposcopy and punch biopsy. However, I am confused: If they could not reach the cervix, how did they perform the  biopsy during colposcopy? Or is it that you actually had biopsy taken under G.A.? And if so, did they actually perform laser ablation straight and sent that tissue for a biopsy? This is very important. During laser ablation it is possible to actually destroy the tissue making biopsy inconclusive. It could well be that any abnormal cells that may have existed were grouped on the edge of the specimen removed and got destroyed in the procedure making the sample....unreadable and quite useless diagnostically.During the original pap test they should have first excluded the possibility of any infection that could have given false-positive results (it is what they are meant to do in parallel to smear test anyway but some don't always bother... I would ask them about this - perhaps they did and perhaps not).CIN3 PAP , if correct, would most definitely be supported by a punch biopsy which is more reliable than the pap test and should probably better be done BEFORE lasering or cutting away.... therefore, either the pap was off for reasons described above, OR lasering messed up the sample in - ideally punch biopsy should have been done to assess the changes are correct and then opt for EITHER laser ablation or conization. Alternatively if it made more sense to go aggressively they should have considered conization instead of LEEP to preserve the edges and not compromise the sample. The latter gives a clean unburned edge and makes for better biopsy specimen. If you can, please do let me know how they decide to proceed as I am very curious. With regards to your health moving forward, all they can do is repeat smear within 3 months or so (not sure about the waiting period after LEEP). OR they can perform colposcopy, hopefully they can reach cervix and actually perform a punch biopsy next time. For next PAP I would ask them to take 2-3 samples if possible. And test for infections while they are at it this time - if they did not do so last time.Source: gyn. oncology specialist that treated me for my CIN3...  / Delete 18 Hi thanks for your reply, i didnt have any treatment, at the colposcopy clinic he said he couldnt do the lazer treatment as he might hit my vaginal walls so i have to be booked in to have it done under G.A. in a few weeks time,he took 4 punch biopsies and said he had biopsied a high grade lesion. I recived the letter saying theres no abnormality of the cells of my cervix and said they are very suprised by this and they will have a meeting then be in touch with me. Im just really confused by it all. / Delete 19 Ah ok. That's a bit better.I am confused too...because you said he could not reach your cervix to perform a colposcopy so how the heck did he manage to do punch biopsy right on the suspect lesion   must be a highly intuitive doc Anyway, either something is wrong with the sample he took or with pap test. For your peace of mind it would probably be a good idea to repeat pap and colposcopy and decide based on second set of results before deciding to put you under. But, at the same time If it is CIN2 or 3 indeed however, they will have to put you under anyway for LEEP or conization. Both are acceptable ways to proceed as pertaining to your health so see what makes most sense to you and to them. Either way it has to either be reasessed. Good that they are convening. Is this private or public healthcare?Wishing you the best outcome in any case.  / Delete 20 Hi i had the copper coil fitted about 6 months ago , and i have been suffering with depression and panic attacks also i have breast pains and cramping pains, always bloated and no sex drive i just wounder Has any One else felt this way im due to get it out tomorrow but tbh im feeling a Little scared of a mood crash afterwards im only 21 and i feel not how a 21 yr old should so Can anyone give Me some feed back plz x , / Delete 21 This is exactly how feel same symptoms and everything, anxiety, absolutely no sex drive what so ever, bloating and the feeling of never been off my period?? Cramps breast pains etc etc.  I’ve had mine in 2 and half years now and it’s the 3rd time I’ve had, however, this is the first time I’ve had these symptoms.  I’m 32 so it seems odd and coincidental that we are ‘suffering’ the same.  Please update how things go when you have it removed J I really think this should be made more public as the docs don’t seem to take any ownership for these side effects always telling me ‘it can’t be the copper coil as no hormones’???? There has been no real research on it although it does seem popular with the celebs. As far as I can see it seems to be a short term fix. I can see that occassionally people need a vitamin boost for medical reasons, but I think I would like to find out what the underlying problem was first. / Delete 26 It was more a general enquiry to be honest, iv just stumbled across it done some research on the net but thought I'd rather ask on a forum where real people with first hand experience can share there views. I'v always been interested in alternative treatments but very sceptical at the same time, thank you 😊 / Delete 27 I think it really depends what the alternative treatment is for. People have been lulled into so called natural treatments against conventional treatments and have died. Just because something is called natural does not mean it has no side effects, some can be quite lethal if people are not careful. / Delete 28 Ye I totally agree / Delete 29 Also Vitamin D IV, but not multi-vitamins / Delete 30 It is esential to have a balanced diet. Then no need for vitamins. If your deficient in vitamin B,C or D, then only take those supplements.  / Delete 31 One can eat a balanced diet and still be deficient. Supplements don't always work. Malabsorption can be the cause. Thus the concept of intotrducing straight into the bloodstream is interesting.  / Delete 32 yeah, supplements or IV in that case.  / Delete 33 On the other hand an awful lot of people take supplements when they could just have a decent diet. I am sure the supplement manufacturers are happy though. / Delete 34 That is why it is debatable that supplements are necessary, even though vitamin deficiency may make these necessary.IV vitamin supplements may be required in case of malabsorption as jenny said above.  / Delete 35 My mother has gone into a nursing home due to have another assessment next week to decide if it should be permanent. Yet 6 months ago I was diagnosed with Hypertension which I found about completely by luck due to an auto accident. I've most likely had it much longer as a cardiologist found that I had Left ventricular hypertrophy most likely due to untreated Hypertension. Even though I still exercise several hours every day and changed my diet to lower salt and sugar, if I missed even one day of medicine, my BP shoots right back up to 180/115. So it this something that will never be cured and I'll have to continue taking medication for the rest of my life? , / Delete 37 Wish I had an answer. mine shoots up if I miss one day. All doctors seem to give all the same advice...low salt, exercise, blah, blahs, blah,...All say it's just part of aging. Why can't they figure out why so many people have it...even those that lead healthy life styles and diets. So frustrating. / Delete 38 eming....you are so right!!! Hypertension is so common, it's unbelievable.I read somewhere in the Mayo Clinic blogs that they try to encourage doctors to study more about rare illnesses. Most doctors have the attitude that if something's rare, you likely don't have it..but that can be a very dangerous attitude. Just become something's rare, doesn't mean it doesn't happen..just that it doesn't happen commonly.I hear all sorts of things about hypertension..some people lose a lot of weight, exercise, etc...then the doctor is lowering their hyptertension meds because whatever the dosage they're taking is now too much. Apparently, the more one weighs, the harder it is on the body, then the heart works harder, thus causing hypertension.I have a bad atttitude now toward today's "modern medicine". Years ago the medical profession would work to find out what's going on, but now they'd sooner write a prescription. If the issuance of bp meds were dramatically cut down, the pharmaceutical companies would lose an unimaginable amount of money. It all boils down to MONEY.Even when doctors are trying to find out what's wrong with a patient, if they don't know what the cause is..they don't admit it, but just stick a label on it as "idiopathic"., meaning no known cause. I for one do not believe for a second that the human body would just start doing something on it's own. There has to be a cause, & it's the doctors responsibility to find that cause. Far too many people suffer because the doctor doesn't know what's wrong. / Delete 39 i wish i could give you an answer too! I am going to see a naturopath in the new year to see if there is anything i can do naturally to relieve hypertension.i have read that the dash diet is good ,cutting out salt and sugar ,but nothing concrete! SURELY there is something out there we can do.Would love to hear from someone who can help! / Delete 40 It seems that for GPs its much easier and cheaper to prescribe medication rather than do the tests to find the cause. Go privately if you can afford to. / Delete 41 rosi76422...I totally agree!!! Please read my previous post!!!I'd love to be able to find a doctor who I could see privately, but I don't know how to go about it. If a person is experiencing any sort of pain, the bp will rise, if they are ill...the bp will rise..sometimes people take meds & even the meds at times won't control the bp. Doctors need to find out what's going on in the body to cause elevated bp levels., but they don't bother. / Delete 42 Left Ventricular Hypertrophy was picked up in me in 1977 caused by uncontrolled hypertension. Instead of throwing medication at the problem a series of investigations over 8 weeks were done in hospital to find out why someone in their 20's had high BP. I was diagnosed with an adrenal problem (Conn's Syndrome). My take home message to your GP etc is to investigate rather than cycle through meds to find the combination that works for you. When you have blood tests ask your GP for copies and monitor the trend yourself. Keep your eye on your electrolyte balance and your kidney function. On forums always good to post this data online as it helps to guide folk in a better direction sometimes. Also get yourself a BP monitor for home use.. Preferably one that bluetooths to your mobile phone so you have a record to show your GP. / Delete 1 43 Conns...I'd venture to say you are one of the lucky ones. You at least had medical professionals who investigated to find your problem, rather than throwing meds at you. Blood tests are all well & good too, but if they are just a few points below or beyond the parameters, the doctor does NOTHING...because in a few days or weeks those numbers could fall into the 'normal' category. I think some doctors don't test for the right things in a blood test. If we suggest something, they take it as us telling them how to do their jobs. Lucky for me, my doctor will listen, but will also explain why he's doing things. Other folks aren't so lucky. / Delete 44 has your LVH resolved? / Delete 45 Mike, Indeed you are correct. A routine medical prior to leaving College picked up 245 / 125 BP. At te time all very strange as had no symptoms and couldn't understand what I was doing in a hospital bed that same day when all I wanted to do was be in the College bar with my friends. In terms of blood tests, some U/E's which are hovering at the edge of your range should be followed up with more checks - just good practice by a GP. In terms of Left Ventricular Hypertophy (LVH). Last years Echo on LVH read "LV Systolic function appears normal with mild diastolic dysfuntion". So after 42 years of resistant BP issues, you can achieve good results. Never too late to improve things generally. / Delete 46 Indeed it did resolve. See other post. / Delete 47 Certainly there are people who are diagnosed with hypertension who lose weight, adjust diets, and see blood pressure go back to normal. I'm one - at least I don't need the meds all the time, take them as needed, can go days or weeks without. And others do better than me.But there's a wide variety of cases and causes, and certainly many people don't lose the weight and do stay on the drugs, and everyone gets older! / Delete 48 When you say "shoots right back up to 180/115"....under what conditions, first thing in the morning, after exercise, after a glass of wine? Measured with what king of device, arm cuff, wrist cuff.... I'm just figuring out that BP is a moving target that changes through out the day. I've even had a nurse take mine followed by a Doc and got two significantly different readings in 5mins time. How could that be??? And what did the stress test say? / Delete 49 Thinking about this. My Mother and other near relatives had it so one's BP level is set to a certain extent from birth. So if it's high during the years one does not need to check it then when older it's only going to get higher. I had a incident of 200/100/90 other day but not dizzy or anything. Pot Luck maybe? / Delete 50 Thinking about this. My Mother and other near relatives had it so one's BP level is set to a certain extent from birth. It feels vascular. It seems to be on the front side of the knee, which from what I understand is not typical of a popliteal aneurysm. It's not painful at all, but it is somewhat uncomfortable.
