Annette Miller – Head of Administration and Finance


I lead the department’s team of administrative support staff, and have day-to-day responsibility for the non-academic management and administration of the department. This includes supporting the Head of Department in developing and implementing strategic plans for the department and coordinating operational support for staff and students across academic administration, building and facilities, communications, events, finance, HR and research administration.

I am responsible for the day to day HR and Finance administration of the Department. I am involved with the full employee lifecycle, which include recruitment, onboarding and management of end of contracts, retirements and resignation. I manage employee contractual changes, payroll changes, probations, PDR and academic mid-period and end of period reviews. I assist with certificate of sponsorships and visa applications for new starters and visitors. I am responsible for a variety of financial tasks, mainly processing of invoices and expenses. I process travel insurance applications, organise payments for student teaching, demonstrating and lecturing.


Emma Bodger – Receptionist and Administrative Assistant


I am the receptionist here in the Statistics building and I’m the first point of contact for all visitors and general enquiries. I deal with University card access queries, log maintenance requests, I am a first aider, a mental health first aider and I am able to book rooms.


Mareli Grady – Schools Liaison Officer (Statistics) and Outreach Events Coordinator (Mathematics)


I am the Schools Liaison Officer for the Department, co-ordinating outreach including Open Days and events for teachers and school students in Years 9-12. I work in both Statistics and Maths, and can advise on and support public engagement with research projects, including funding and training opportunities. I am also the go-to person for requests or questions about the Department’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). Hannah Harrison – MSc Coordinator and Resources Administrator


I am responsible for the administration of the MSc in Statistical Science, including admissions (please e-mail if you have particular admissions questions). I also assist with administration of the Undergraduate course and, in particular, organise the intercollegiate classes. I run the Statistics Library (please e-mail if you have library queries). I am webmaster for the Department website and intranet, a Local Canvas Co-ordinator, a harassment advisor and DSE assessor.


Lauren Haynes – Executive Assistant to the Head of Department, Personal Assistant to Senior Academics and Governance Officer


I am EA to the Head of Department and provide comprehensive secretarial support and personal assistance to senior academic staff: Professors Charlotte Deane, Christl Donnelly and Arnaud Doucet. As Governance Officer, my role encompasses governance administration. I take minutes at Departmental Committee and Support Team meetings and assist with various departmental projects.


Alex Landucci – Research and Academic Support Administrator


I provide support for activities across research and academic administration, working with the Research Facilitator on grant management and providing assistance for the administration of the department’s academic programmes. I also provide PA support for Professors Jotun Hein, Yee Whye Teh and Frank Windmeijer and administrative servicing to the IT Committee. In addition, I provide support for departmental projects, including Athena SWAN, with a focus on data collation and information management.


Beverley Lane – Administrative and Events Officer


I manage both the Department’s annual calendar of events and the hiring out of the Department’s Conference facilities for meetings and events. I provide admin support for Oxford APTS Weeks and handle all financial administration relating to events management. I am the Admin lead for promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in the Department including preparation for our 2022 Athena SWAN application and the implementation of our current Athena SWAN Action Plan and the Department’s Race Equality Action Plan. I act as Secretary to the Equality & Diversity Committee and am the Department’s representative on the MPLS Equality & Diversity Steering Group. I coordinate desk allocations for new staff, students and visitors. I provide PA support for Professor Judith Rousseau and Professor Gesine Reinert. I am responsible for developing Alumni Relations.


Dr Irene Scullion – Research Facilitator and Deputy Administrator


I am a Research Facilitator for the Department, assisting researchers in identifying suitable sources of funding, in preparation and costing of the application, and in responding to queries during the consideration process. I also provide support for administration of grants (including timesheets and expenses) once award. Please contact me as soon as possible when considering an application.


Shermin Stanford – HR Administrator


I assist with the daily HR activities within the department and have involvement with all aspects of the employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding/ offboarding, contracts, probation, PDR’s and retirement and resignation. I manage payroll changes for the department and organise payments for student teaching and casual work. I support visa applications for new starters and visitors and work closely with other members of the admin team to support the smooth running of the department.


Joanna Stoneham – Industrial Liaison and Programme Manager


My role covers the management of all aspects of the two Centres for Doctoral Training (OxWaSP and StatML), as well as the management of all studentship finance, industrial contracts, and donations for the Statistics Department. I am also the operations lead for the Statistics Consultancy Service.


Jonathan Whyman – Academic Administrator


I am responsible for the overall administration and co-ordination of the department’s academic programmes. This involves working with the Director of Graduate Studies and Director of Studies to make sure that academic processes are completed to set timescales. For PGR students this includes admissions, induction, progression, training and teaching. For undergraduates this involves scheduling lectures, project allocation, examination preparation and marking. I also support the Graduate Research Committee and Teaching Committee.


Stuart McRobert – Computing Manager

I am an experienced Computing Manager with a specialist team of IT professionals managing the Department’s extensive computing resources. This includes procurement and delivery of high performance CPU and GPU compute servers, storage, desktops and networking, along with regularly updating software used across the Department.
