Schools Liaison

The Department of Statistics is committed to increasing participation in Statistics as an undergraduate degree. Our events are co-hosted with the Mathematical Institute. Departmental Open Days

Departmental Open Days offer a deeper look into the degree choices offered by the Mathematical Institute and Department of Statistics. There will be a number of sessions looking at all the essential information a prospective student might need. It is possible to also visit the Department of Statistics on one of the Saturdays only. Booking is essential and is possible through the Mathematical Institute.

University Open Days

In June and September, Open Days take place in both colleges and departments. More information about this can be obtained from the University admissions Open Days pages. These are a good opportunity to visit both the department and any colleges you are considering applying to. The departmental talks are hosted at the Mathematical Institute and will provide a more general overview. It is also possible to visit the Department of Statistics for a tour of the building – please see our Open Day page.

It All Adds Up - A Maths Conference for Girls

It All Adds Up is our flagship Mathematics and Statistics conference for girls in Year 9, Years 10-11 and Year 12. These are two day-long conferences with interesting lectures, hands-on activities and the opportunity to enthuse about maths with other girls. Please see the It All Adds Up website for more details.

The event is open to girls studying at state-maintained schools in the UK, and an application is required.

UNIQ Summer Schools

The UNIQ summer schools offer a fantastic opportunity to experience the life of Oxford student for one week in the summer. Aimed at Year 12 students at UK state schools, it is a free residential programme for students interested in studying Mathematics at university. Please visit for more information and to apply.
