Boltzmann Weighted Combinatorics of RNA Secondary Structures
RNA secondary structure is by far the most tractable realistic model of biopolymer structure formation available. Analysis of RNA sequences for secondary structure can routinely be applied to sequences of thousands of nucleotides. It is of interest to understand how secondary stuctures for random sequences behave, for one thing to better identify and understand what sets biological sequences apart. Previous work on this topic has a serious shortcoming in not taking the structure stability into consideration. This project aims to address this problem by including Boltzmann stability of structures. The simple version of the project would consist of simulation based studies, while the complex version would aim to develop analytical asymptotics of secondary structures.
