Counting Pedigrees up to Isomorphism
Evolutionary Biology is dominated by relationship of species, individuals, sequences and other entities that can be traced back to common ancestor(s) by some copying and modification mechanism. For species this will typically lead to the phylogeny, while the more fine grained evolutionary relationship of (diploid) individuals are described by pedigrees. The number of different relationships possible for a certain number of extant species or individuals gives a measure of the complexity of determining the best description. While counting problems for phylogenies and related structures have been well studied, much less work has been devoted for the corresponding counting problems for pedigrees.
