Research degree funding

Clarendon Scholarship

One (and possibly more) Clarendon Scholarships will be available for Statistics students starting in October 2012.

Clarendon
Scholarships are awarded to academically excellent students with the best proven and future potential. The Scholarships cover tuition and college fees in full and a grant for living expenses, and are open to all students starting a new course at Oxford. They are highly competitive, with less than 7% of applicants selected for the scholarship.

The closing date for completed applications, including references, is 20 January 2012.

Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funding

Two EPSRC awards for Doctoral study are expected to be available for students starting in October 2012.

This funding is restricted to UK and other EU students. Those who have been normally resident in the UK for the past three years are eligible for awards covering all University and College fees and subsistence, while other EU citizens are eligible for fees-only awards.   Completed applications should be submitted by 20 January 2012.

Departmental Studentships and Teaching Assistantships

The Department of Statistics is also offering three or more departmental studentships and teaching assistantships available for doctoral research students joining the Department in October 2012. If taken in combination, a studentship and teaching assistantship will cover the full cost of both University and College fees together with maintenance expenses.

Applicants are normally expected to combine the two types of award and to offer teaching in the subject areas in which the Department has greatest need.  These include statistics, applied probability and actuarial science.  Details of the undergraduate courses with which award holders may be involved can be found at http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/current_students/bamath.

Other scholarships and ideas for sources of funding can be found on the University's Student Funding  webpages.

The Department has several smaller departmental bursaries that can used to support and supplement other funding arrangements for students from any country. For further information contact the Academic Administrator.
