Biographical Sketch
I completed my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Bath, where I also studied for my PhD at the Centre for Extremophile Research. I spent 4 years working as a postdoctoral researcher in the Asthma Genetics Group at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, before joining the Statistics Experimental Laboratory in 2006.
Research interests
Use of microarray technology to study variation and evolution in bacteria.
My current research uses resequencing microarray technology to study genetic variation. The first project is investigating sequence variation between individual serovars of Salmonella enterica, and the second is looking at sequence variation in Streptococcus pneumoniae, particularly in relation to the pneumococcal vaccine and vaccine escape strains.
