Title: Escape Probabilities for Branching Brownian Motion among soft obstacles"
Abstract: I will go through the paper by Amandine Veber and JF LeGall on this subject. The idea of the paper is to see how the BBM among obstacles can be rescaled into a Super Brownian Motion, and use the properties of this object to understand the asymptotics of the escape probabilities.
Week 2 Thursday 12th May
Dr Martin Kolb, Department of Statistics, University of Oxford
Title: Efficient couplings for some diffusion processes with random jumps from the boundary
Abstract: Motivated by questions posed by Wenbo Li et al. and Ross Pinsky et al. we construct efficient couplings for some diffusion processes with random jumps from the boundary. These couplings allow to calculate probabilistically the precise exponential rate of convergence towards the invariant distribution. Moreover, they allow to deduce some consequences concerning associated elliptic non-local eigenvalue problems. (Joint work with Achim Wuebker)
