Travelling to Oxford
By Air
Travellers from abroad may arrive at one of London Heathrow, London Gatwick or Birmingham International airports. To get to Oxford from either London Heathrow or London Gatwick the coach is recommended. The Oxford Airline service leaves Heathrow every half hour and hourly throughout the day from Gatwick.
The journey from Heathrow takes 80 minutes from Terminal 5 and 90 minutes from the Central bus station (serving terminals 1, 2, and 3) and 2 - 2.5 hours from Gatwick. There is a free shuttle service between Heathrow Terminal 4 and the other terminals.
The coach arrives at Gloucester Green Bus Station which is a short walk or taxi ride from the Department.
There is a direct train service from Birmingham International to Oxford. See the next section for more information about trains.
Travelling by taxi from Heathrow is very expensive (at least £80) and is not much quicker than the coach.
By train from London
There is a regular train service between London Paddington and Oxford. Fast trains take about an hour. See National rail for details or telephone 08457 48 49 50.
